Meet the Clemens at Beaver Creek Ranch and Horse Centre

Brenda Clemens and her husband Barry are partners in Beaver Creek Ranch and Horse Centre near Lumsden, Saskatchewan. Together they raise and train horses manage their 100-head cow/calf herd and conduct Leadership Development Programs which include Equine Assisted Learning (EAL), Team-Tracker and Cowboy Cookout.

Love of family, friends and the cowboy lifestyle are core values for the Clemens. This motivated them to develop the Cowboy Cookout western-themed dinners and other tourism ventures as a way of sharing their ranch and its beauty with others.

Hosting a Cowboy Cookout, coaching people and horses to maximum performance, or guiding an exciting Team Tracker adventure is all in a day’s work to Barry and Brenda Clemens. Work that allows them to share the outdoors and its many adventures as a way to give back in return for the special lives they have enjoyed.

Brenda was determined to turn her life-long love of horses into a sustainable living. She studied Livestock Production at Olds College as the first step toward her dream of a successful equestrian career. Over her 40-year training and coaching career  Brenda has shared her own passion for learning and personal growth by coaching countless clients to a new level of skill, personal awareness and productivity.

Brenda’s credentials include National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Level I English and Level II Western accreditation, Equine Assisted Growth and Learning (Eagala), Level II Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) Specialist and Level I Parelli. She has also devoted many hours to leadership training, including the Leadership Development Program at SIAST.

Brenda committed to the power and potential of Equine Assisted Learning in 2007, when she became a Certified Facilitator. Hundreds of hours spent mastering her own horsemanship skills have given her an in-depth knowledge of the interaction between horses and humans that she is now employing in her highly successful training programs.

Brenda Clemens - Beaver Creek Ranch and Horse Centre

Barry Clemens was raised on a mixed grain and cattle operation in Southern Saskatchewan. He learned early that hunting, horses and outdoor adventure were his true passion.

Barry has successfully trained and shown horses in many AQHA, Paint and Appaloosa breed shows, but roping and training good roping horses have always been his favourite horseback activities. In fact, just about any cattle work that can be done from the back of a horse adds up to fun for Barry.

While running an extensive custom grazing operation on some of the roughest terrain in Saskatchewan, Barry honed his ability to track and follow a trail. It’s a skill that he uses well in his key role as the stealthy tracker in Beaver Creek’s new Team Tracker program.

Beaver Creek Ranch has always been a family operation where Brenda and Barry instilled the love of horses in their children Jody, Taylor and Shelby who are now raising their children in the same lifestyle.
